Two ways in: let a licensed professional manage it for you (Halogen's Shariah funds), or self-manage and trade directly on your own broker or exchange.

Pick the assets, set the weights, and see what that mix would actually have done — return, volatility, and the worst fall along the way. Everything is in ringgit, so the numbers are comparable.
This is a backtest, not a product and not a forecast. It shows what a fixed set of weights would have returned over past prices — it cannot be bought, it excludes every fee, sales charge, spread and tax, and it assumes you could rebalance for free and never sold in a panic. Real results would be lower. The window is the longest stretch your chosen assets all share, so adding a recently launched fund shortens the whole comparison — a 5-year figure and a 1-year figure sitting in the same box are not comparable, which is why the window is always printed. Weights are scaled to 100%. Halogen fund series are the manager's own published daily NAV; market assets are priced from Yahoo Finance and Binance and converted to ringgit at the daily USD/MYR rate, so currency movement is included rather than hidden. Volatility is annualised from weekly returns; Sharpe uses a 2.75% cash rate. Past performance is not indicative of future performance, and digital assets in particular can fall a long way. Not financial advice.
Halogen backtested two conventional portfolios with and without a slice of Bitcoin. The finding is not "crypto goes up" — it is that 3–10% moved the return a long way and the volatility barely at all, which is what the Sharpe ratio is telling you.
| Portfolio | 5-yr CAGR | 5-yr vol | Sharpe |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30/70 | 4.45% | 10.78% | 0.19 |
| 27/70 + 3% BTC | 6.51% | 11.54% | 0.31 |
| Portfolio | 5-yr CAGR | 5-yr vol | Sharpe |
|---|---|---|---|
| 70/30 | 12.50% | 18.78% | 0.54 |
| 60/30 + 10% BTC | 18.61% | 19.26% | 0.80 |
In both cases the Sharpe ratio rose by more than half — the extra return was not simply bought with extra risk. Note the sizing though: Halogen's case is for 3% to 10%, not for a crypto-heavy portfolio.Halogen Capital introduction deck, slide 29. Backtested December 2019 to December 2024 using the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF, the iShares Core US Aggregate Bond ETF and Bitcoin, priced from Google Finance. Backtests are not a track record — they choose a start date with hindsight, and this one begins before a period in which Bitcoin rose a great deal. Past performance is not indicative of future performance.
Allocations are illustrative frameworks to explain risk tiers — not personalised advice or a recommendation. Digital assets are volatile and can lose value.
